SLEEP OUT TO HELP OUT – THE BIG STAMFORD BRIDGE (VIRTUAL) SLEEP OUT 2021

Read Time:2 Minute, 39 Second

Chelsea Supporters’ Trust, with the full support of Chelsea Football Club, are delighted to announce that we will be holding the second Big Stamford Bridge Sleep Out on Saturday 27th March 2021.

The event will raise vital funds for our next door neighbour, Stoll, who support Veterans. Stoll provides supported housing for vulnerable and disabled Veterans and dependants from all three armed forces. Stoll has been in existence for over 100 years, providing housing and care for vulnerable Veterans.  They work with approximately 500 individuals each year and addresses a wide range of barriers to independence, and ensures that they are securely housed and their health needs, including emotional wellbeing and mental health, are being addressed effectively. Over half of the Veterans Stoll works with suffer from one or more mental health conditions; of this group, over half have a diagnosis of PTSD.

The event though this year will be different. Due to Government restrictions, we plan for The Big Stamford Bridge Sleep Out 2021 to be a fully virtual sleep out. This means you can choose to sleep out or sleep in. It is very simple this year. You can take part in the Big Stamford Bridge (Virtual) Sleep Out by sleeping in a location of your choosing: your front room floor, kitchen floor, garden, garage or The Shed (not that one). That’s all there is to it.

Any Chelsea fan can take part whether you are 6 or 60 years of age, and you can be anywhere in the world and still take part on the night. Families can get involved too, and you may even want to camp out in the garden on the night and do your bit to raise money for Stoll Veterans. All money raised on the night will go to a wonderful homeless and support charity.

We are planning for some special guests to take part on the night via a live stream, who have promised to lend their support to such a worthy cause. More details as soon as we have them.

Last year those sleeping out at Stamford Bridge were surprised by Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood wishing them good luck on his way to a gig next door at Under The Bridge. We cannot guarantee a Rolling Stone making a virtual appearance but we plan to have some familiar faces to Chelsea fans popping up online on the night.

Like last year we are looking to set up Just Giving link to help people raise the money by setting up their own individual sponsorship page. That way it goes straight to the charity and you do not have to collect it. We still need to sort out some admin bits and pieces but we will have more information soon.
