PPV – A statement from CST

Concerning the announcement from the Premier League (PL) that all fixtures until the New Year will be televised within the UK, the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust (CST) has issued the following statement.

The CST welcomes the statement from the PL today announcing that the PPV model will be discontinued. All remaining fixtures in 2020 will be live on existing platforms.

The PPV model was an insult to all football supporters. It demonstrated a distinct disregard to those who are passionate about their teams and exploited this loyalty.

Since it was announced the CST has stood united alongside other PL Supporters Trusts and the Football Supporters Association (FSA) against the £14.95 fee. The #BoycottPPV and #CharityNotPPV has raised significant amounts of money for worthy causes.

The CST would strongly urge the PL, broadcasters and clubs to consult with fan groups and the FSA before making any decision regarding broadcasting arrangements in 2021.

We are supporters and significant stakeholders in the game.
