The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust is delighted to announce that it has partnered with the Health Lottery to support the Hammersmith & Fulham foodbank.
WITH a remarkable £132 million already contributed to health and wellness initiatives across Great Britain, The Health Lottery continues to make a positive impact through community-focused projects.
This November, The Health Lottery has announced the launch of its Match Funding Drive at Chelsea Football Club in partnership with the Chelsea Supporter’s Trust to support one of the busiest foodbanks in the UK, serving the Hammersmith and Fulham area.
The Health Lottery aims to support a number of foodbanks throughout Great Britain over the coming months. This inaugural Match Funding Drive will take place on Sunday, 10th November, inviting football fans to bring food donations to the match. For every item donated, The Health Lottery will match its value with a financial contribution, with the goal of raising £5,000 in donations. The funds will be directed to the Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank, amplifying the impact of each contribution. In fact, every £1 donated will translate to £4 for the charity through this initiative.
Carly Troullis, Head of Marketing at The Health Lottery, said:
“We are always looking for meaningful ways to give back to the community, and this partnership with Chelsea Supporters Trust is the perfect opportunity. We know the power of football and its ability to unite people for a greater cause. There is a misconception that foodbanks are not needed in areas like Hammersmith and Fulham, but the reality is that poverty knows no bounds. Together, with the help of football fans, we can make a real difference and support those in need.”
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring tinned fish, jars of cooking sauces, pasta sauces, tinned soups, vegetarian options (such as veggie chilli, curry, dahl), tinned tomatoes, tinned fruits, vegetables (e.g., sweetcorn, carrots), breakfast cereal, porridge oats, long-life UHT milk, baked beans, tinned pulses (kidney beans, chickpeas, etc.), toilet rolls, and reusable shopping bags (e.g., strong bags for life). Every donation will have a direct impact on families in need across the Hammersmith and Fulham area.
Cliff Auger, Chelsea Supporters’ Trust board member, shared:
“Food insecurity is an issue that touches many families, even in seemingly affluent areas like ours. This Match Funding Drive allows us to make a significant impact, both by filling foodbank shelves and contributing financially through The Health Lottery’s generous matching initiative.”
This collaboration underscores the commitment of The Health Lottery and Chelsea Supporters Trust to pay it forward, fostering community spirit and providing essential support to those facing food insecurity.
The collection will open around 3 hours before kick-off and close half an hour before kick-off. The collection point can be found just outside the Stoll Foundation gates on Fulham Road. This is between Fulham Broadway and the West Stand entrance on the left-hand side as you walk to the ground.
