On Sunday 4th May the Chelsea Heritage Partnership’s Those Were the Days matchday heritage event returns to the Tea Bar at Stamford Bridge. Renamed Those Were the Shirts for this special event, we take a nostalgic look at some of our classic shirts of the past. Drawing on the Chelsea Museum’s extensive archive to create a colourful room-wide display of some of those iconic pieces, we also look forward to meeting supporters wearing your own classic shirt favourites.

There will be a wide range of match footage and goals galore featuring those distinctive kits, both old and more recent, brought to our event screens by Chelsea Heritage Partners Chelsea Lookback and Chelsea Chadder. We will also be screening a special presentation by official club historian and Partner Rick Glanvill, looking at the history of an important part of any club shirt, the club badge. To complete the viewing across the room, and mindful of the day’s opponents, we will also screen clips of memorable encounters against Liverpool – and there are some great ones! With the volume up, visitors can feel a part of those special games.

The event will also welcome many of our former players, who wore with pride some of the classic shirts featured. They will drop by throughout the event and are always happy to chat and reminisce about their playing exploits. Previous visitors to our events might remember chatting to the friendly and knowledgeable Steve ‘Jock’ Finnieston, who makes a welcome return.

The event runs from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday 4th May 2025 at the Stamford Bridge Tea Bar, which is located near the Shed End ticket office. The event is free and is open to home supporters. Refreshments will be on sale.

On your way into the ground don’t forget to buy a copy of the match day program, which will feature an article about the Chelsea Heritage Partnership and the valuable work we do.

We look forward to welcoming you.
