On 11 December 2025, Chelsea FC, the Chelsea Foundation, and catering partners Legends held a Christmas lunch at Stamford Bridge for local homeless people and the local community.
The annual lunch is an event that has run for eight years so it was good to see new caterers Legends carry on this tradition and so many of their staff volunteering to serve food and wait on tables.
Over 300 guests were invited from many charities including Barons Court Project, Stoll Foundation, Age Uk, Crisis, Spear and the Chelsea Methodist Church Community Drop-On Centre on the Kings Road and enjoyed a traditional three-course Christmas meal prepared by Legends’s professional chefs.
Cliff Auger, Clayton Beerman, Jon Gordon, Mark Meehan and Tim Rolls from the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust volunteered to book everyone in for lunch and meet and greet the guests and bring them to their tables. and spend time talking to many people throughout the afternoon.
We were not alone and we were joined by Levi Colwill who came along and served food to the guests and while there he made a special point of catching up with our friends at Barons Court Project..
Chelsea FC and Legends also ensured that all guests were able to take home a gift bag. A nice Xmas present.
We have worked with the Chelsea Foundation again on this event and thanks to their Chief Executive Laura Cordingly and her team for organising the event and her positive words about the Foundation and the event:
“For us at the Chelsea Foundation, it’s important that we support those in our local communities. It’s wonderful to bring people together and support them to live healthier and happier lives. Everything we do in the community is focused on that”.
The CST were delighted to be involved once again this year. It’s a very special occasion and part of the CST ethos of doing positive things in the local community.
A few days after the event we were passed on a copy of delightful letter from one of the charities: Chelsea and Fulham Methodist Churches.
Dear Alice and team,
I am writing on behalf of our church council, staff team and community drop in guests to say a huge thank you to Chelsea Football Club, the Chelsea Foundation, CFC supporters, volunteers and the amazing hospitality team and security staff who made the Christmas dinner such a resounding success from the welcome to the farewell.
We are most grateful, and we were humbled by the generosity of spirit, kindness of all staff and volunteers. We have nothing but admiration for your commitment to take on the phenomenal task of turning this around so quickly at very short notice to ensure the guests really did experience the “Magic of Blue”
My team and I enjoyed having a chance to sit with our guests and share a delicious meal, experience the festive atmosphere and watch them relax fully for a few hours.
It is wonderful to see so many smiles. Our guests loved their handwritten Christmas card and that is part of the real “magic” when we see guests feeling valued and having fun. We recognise that this type of event helps our guests to make memories that will sustain them in the coming weeks when many of them will be sleeping on the streets on Christmas day, feeling cold and lonely.
I know from previous years that the Christmas meal at Chelsea has a profound and lasting positive impact for our guests and makes a big difference to their self-esteem.
Thank you to you and the whole team for spreading the joy of Christmas.
We wish you all a truly joyous Christmas and a very happy New Year.
Kind regards
Julie Roberts
